We're rewinding 30 years to 1981 for the Top 10 which gets the show started. Our two mash ups, in hours two and three, mix the modern with the 80s, and do you remember when the M25 motorway was opened? That was our Time Warp year. Crack open a Quatro, and enjoy the 80s. RT80s XL: 2nd November 2011

My last show for a short while, as next week I'm taking the family to sunny Spain. When I return, it'll be the new Remember The 80s XL! The Top 5 will be a Top 10, we'll be playing a few songs from just either side of the 80s, and the show will be E-X-T-E-N-D-E-D to three hours! For now though, you have the Top 5 from this week in 1982 to enjoy, as well as all the usual fun and frolics. See you in three weeks! RT80s 7th September 2011

One day earlier this week, it was two degrees colder here in London than in NORTHERN ALASKA. Yep - summer has ended for the UK, the RT80s studio fan is being replaced by a fan heater, but who cares about the weather when there's all this great 80s music to play? We're way back in 1980 for our Top 5, and after that we're celebrating what would have been Queen legend Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday in three different ways! More birthdays, more mash ups, more memories. Did I forget one? Oh yeah - more memories. Enjoy the show. RT80s: 31st August 2011
August 31, 2011 03:14 PM PDT

New Order and Michael Jackson are just two of the artists in our Top 5 from this week in 1987. The mash ups mix the 80s with 2010 in hour 1, and the 80s with the 80s in hour 2! A ton of memories from the 80s to make you feel all young again. RT80s: 3rd August 2011

I spent all day last Sunday at Hyde Park in London for the Hard Rock Calling concert; a blistering hot day, watching Train, Rumer, Adam Ant, Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart. It was such a great gig, and the three of those acts that had hits during the 80s can be heard on today's show! Our Top 5 comes from right at the start of the decade, and you'll hear two mash ups during the two hours too - one of which is pretty bizarre! If you haven't yet, then join the Facebook group, at www.Facebook.com/RememberThe80s. Enjoy the show! RT80s: 22nd June 2011

Search Facebook for Eighties Nostalgia, and join the group represented by the black and white pic of Adam Ant. And join the RT80s group while you're at it! www.Facebook.com/RememberThe80s. Here's this week's 80s-fest: Top 5 from this week in 1981, LOADS of celeb birthdays and their 80s hits, and a Song That Should Never Have Been Born that will make you wish YOU'D never been born when you hear it. Another Wednesday, another feast of 80s memories! 1982 brings us the Top 5 to open the show, the hour 1 mash up shows us how similar Lady Gaga's recent song sounds to an old Madonna classic, and modern hip hop fuses with 80s Madness in hour 2. There's the birthdays, the Song That Should Never Have Been Born, and a bucketful of great 80s songs to fill almost two hours. And don't forget to like us on www.Facebook.com/RetroRadioInternational! The Eurovision Special! To celebrate this year's Europe-wide cheesefest this Saturday, I play songs from various countries that won the Eurovision Song Contest in the 80s, as well as UK entries including our one winning song from that decade. Also this week's Top 5 from 1989, and a couple of great mash ups. Skill! RT80s: 4th May 2011

Another Wednesday, another two hours of 80s memories! Top 5 from this week in 1985, mash ups, The Time Warp and a Song That Should Never Have Been Born that was a terrible cover version of a great club classic. Next week, to celebrate the annual Eurovision Song Contest coming around again, it'll be a Remember The 80s Eurovision special! Don't miss it - Wednesday, live from 5pm (UK) on ReachOnAir.com, or right here straight afterwards. RT80s: 27th April 2011
April 27, 2011 11:27 AM PDT
It's a Royal Wedding special this week! To celebrate Willy & Kate getting hitched, I play songs by King, Queen, Prince and Princess. The Top 5 is from 1983, and you'd have to have been "barking" mad to have bought the single of our Song That Should Never Have Been Born. A slightly shorter show than usual due to tech probs - that's what you get for keeping your studio computer by a huge window with no blinds or curtains on a sunny day! I edited out the missing few minutes, so you won't notice. Enjoy the show. |
Podcast SummaryRemember The 80s is a weekly radio show, broadcast from the UK by me, Owen Andrew. I don't just play the same tired old 80s songs that everyone churns out - I throw in some long forgotten classics, celebrate 80s celebrity birthdays reviving their classic hits, and even acknowledge that SOME 80s records were just terrible - in The Song That Should Never Have Been Born. Listen live on Wednesdays at www.ReachOnAir.com (check the website schedule page for times), or just look for the full show on here after broadcast! Check out the show website at www.RememberThe80sRadio.com. I also broadcast The Retro Countdown: a weekly look at the UK's Top 40 from this week in either the 70s, 80s, 90s or the 2000s. Enjoy the shows! About Owen AndrewI'm Owen Andrew, from London, England. I broadcast Remember The 80s and The Retro Countdown LIVE each week on internet radio station ReachOnAir.com, and upload each show to here shortly after broadcast. As its title suggests, Remember The 80s is all about bringing back the great music memories of that terrific decade - and not just the same tired old Top 10 songs you hear all the time: I bring back the records you bought that are never played any more, as well as playing those familiar classics. My other show, The Retro Countdown, is a Top 40 chart show where I resurrect the biggest sellers from this week in a year of the 70s, 80s, 90s or early 2000s.
